Well I have to admit, that was a personal record....

I'm in the lady's house, not 15 seconds, and she looks incredulously at her dog, and says, in a stunned voice...

"He's never done that, before....!"

Whippet/Daschund cross. with, apparently possibly a bit of jack Russell Terrier. But I'm not sure which bit....(don't ask).....

This dog had always, but always run round and round her, in her home, and it never stopped.... it just literally kept running rings round her all day, and the only time it stopped was if she took it for a walk. Then, it would zig-zag in front of her, changing from walking to her left, them to her right, then back again to the left, and it just never stopped.

She had never dared take it off its leash for over 3 years. Can you believe that?
She was terrified of what would happen......

Within 15 seconds of walking into her house, I had the dog sat down.

A little under two hours later, I left her home. Both owner and dog, changed for ever.

I love this job.......!

So here I am, in an incredibly sunny and warm Hertfordshire, and I'm tentatively setting myself up as a local, available and approachable Dog behaviourist.

So many different things we could call ourselves, of course....

Canine Psychologist.... sounds very highfalutin.... Like I'm going to ask the dog to lie on the couch and tell me how he feels about his mother.....

Dog behaviourist.... Accurate.... but - and I hesitate to say this - it's rarely about the dog's behaviour....

Dog Whisperer..... Well, their hearing's usually great, but I don't whisper anything. I'm not known for being discreet or quiet.....

The Mutt Analyst..... Might be a pithy one.....

I should point out at this juncture, that I've actually been doing this for nearly 15 years.

This is not a new career move, or business venture for me.

I'm experienced, and I've enjoyed being a Dog Behaviourist for some considerable time - with considerable success!

I'm just new to the area I live in - Central Hertfordshire, in South-East England - but I've practised in Italy, and France, too.

I also have correspondent clients in The USA and elsewhere on the globe....

But now - my focus is in England. Have dog? Will travel.

let's talk some figures here:
It's estimated that nearly 50% of domestic dogs have what are loosely termed as "behavioural problems". That's an awful lot of households experiencing problems, to one degree or another....

Aggression is the main issue (although even this term covers a multitude of traits) with "separation anxiety" (another fashionable and much bandied-about term!) coming up a close second.....

So basically, what I do, is listen to your problems, come and see you (if you need me to) and get things done in as little time as possible, to make your life with your dog - and your dog's life with you - as happy, relaxed, enjoyable and peaceful as possible!
